Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC)

 

The ITSC provides a wide range of IT infrastructure and services.

 

 

1.

The University Portal, MyCUHK and CUSIS

 

MyCUHK provides a personalized access to popular services such as email system, library services, the University news and the essential service – the Chinese University Student Information System (CUSIS).

 

Through CUSIS, students can

 

manage their personal particulars,

 

enroll in courses,

 

view official grades or transcripts,

 

submit applications online (e.g. outgoing exchange, financial and scholarship),

 

make online payments and etc.

 

 

2.

Network Connection

 

The entire campus is connected to the University Campus Backbone Network via high-speed 10 Gigabit or Gigabit Ethernet links.

 

In CUHK, students can enjoy WiFi indoors and outdoors while hostel residents can also access the Internet through network ports.

 

When off campus, registered students can enjoy free WiFi at different hotspots in Hong Kong and at many overseas universities. Students can connect to the campus network through our virtual private network (VPN).

 

 

3.

eLearning Systems and Tools

 

Various systems and tools are offered to enrich online learning experience. Students can exchange with teachers online through the course sites in Blackboard such as accessing learning materials, submitting assignments and taking quizzes. Other systems and tools, such as Zoom and Panopto, are used to support remote learning and video sharing.

 

 

4.

Information Security

 

All students must enable 2-factor authentication (2FA) to protect their access to CUHK IT systems. Students are also entitled to a free copy of anti-virus software for computer protection and should learn good IT practices to safeguard personal information and sensitive data.

 

 

5.

Cloud Collaboration

 

Students can enjoy Microsoft cloud services to facilitate their study. It includes a 100GB mailbox, 1TB cloud storage, instant chat and meeting tool plus free installation of Microsoft Office applications.

 

 

6.

IT Facilities − User Areas and Learning Commons

 

The User Areas (1/F, Pi Ch’iu Building) and the Learning Commons (6/F, Wu Ho Man Yuen Building) provide discussion rooms and functional spaces equipped with computers, audiovisual equipment, multimedia workstation, facilities for special education needs and multi-functional printers.
