Sports Facilities

In order to promote students’ health and fitness, the University provides a variety of high standard sports facilities, including two sports fields, five gymnasia, an outdoor 50-metre swimming pool, eleven tennis courts and five squash courts. The Sir Philip Haddon-Cave Sports Field (HCF) is equipped with a 400-metre all-weather track for students and staff. It also provides one turf soccer pitch, one archery practice field and two archery shooting cages. There are two fitness rooms in the University. One of them is located next to the HCF sports field. The other one is located in the Extension of the University Sports Centre. The Lingnan Stadium Sports Field is equipped with a jogging track, one turf soccer pitch, three outdoor basketball courts, one handball courts and one volleyball court. Both sports fields provide covered spectator stands and flood-light facilities. Each of the five indoor gymnasia (Yeung Ming Biu Indoor Sports Centre (University Sports Centre), New Asia College Charles Leung Gymnasium, United College Thomas H.C. Cheung Gymnasium, Shaw College Indoor Multi-Purpose Sports Hall and Pommerenke Student Centre) houses badminton courts, basketball court and volleyball court. Table tennis room, dance studio and fitness room are located near to each gymnasium. At Pommerenke Student Centre in Chung Chi College, students can use the multi-purpose hall for sports activities such as basketball and badminton. Students can also use the fitness room and the multi-purpose room for dancing and martial art activities. The Water Sports Centre is located on the Tolo Harbour shoreline. Students, staff and alumni can do canoeing, wind-surfing and sailing at the centre.
