Sports Facilities


In order to promote students’ health and fitness, the University provides a variety of high standard sports facilities, including two sports fields, five gymnasia, an outdoor 50-metre swimming pool, twelve tennis courts and six squash courts. The Sir Philip Haddon-Cave Sports Field is equipped with a 400-metre all-weather track for students and staff. It also provides one turf soccer pitch, one archery practice field and two archery shooting cages. A largest and best-equipped fitness room is also located in the sports centre and next to the track. The Lingnan Stadium Sports Field is equipped with an all-weather jogging track, one turf soccer pitch, three outdoor basketball courts, one handball courts and one volleyball court. Both sports fields provide covered spectator stands and flood-light facilities. Each of the five indoor gymnasia (Yeung Ming Biu Indoor Sports Centre, New Asia College Gymnasium, United College Gymnasium, Shaw College Indoor Multi-Purpose Sports Hall and Pommerenke Student Centre) houses badminton courts, basketball court and volleyball court. Table tennis room, dance studio and fitness room are located near to each gymnasium. On the Shaw College campus, there is one outdoor basketball court. At Pommerenke Student Centre in Chung Chi College, a multi-purpose hall is open for students to participate in sports activities such as basketball and badminton. Students can also use the fitness room and the multi-purpose room, which are ideal for dancing and martial art activities. The Water Sports Centre is located on the Tolo Harbour shoreline and faces Ma On Shan. It is open for students, staff and alumni to enjoy canoeing, wind-surfing and sailing.
