Students who are approved exemptions by attainment from the University Core Chinese and/or English Language Requirements should take course(s) in Part I and/or Part II below to fulfill the overall units required for graduation. The language enhancement courses taken for fulfillment of the University Core Chinese and/or English Language Requirements cannot be counted towards the fulfillment of other requirements. Details of exemption by attainment can be found in the section “Exemption by Attainment from the University Chinese and English Language Requirements”.
2. LLB students who are approved exemption by equivalence of courses from the University General Education Core Requirements can take course(s) in Part II (Modern Languages Area) below to fulfill the overall units required for graduation. They can continue to explore other language courses without unit recognition.

TRAN1120 Basic Skills of Translation (3 units) was included in Part I of the list in 2022-23 and 2023-24, and has been removed w.e.f. 2024-25 (i.e. students can only take this course in 2022-23 or 2023-24 to fulfill the University Core Chinese and/or English Languages Requirements).
