CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAMME (CO-OP@CUHK)

CUHK's Co-operative Education Programme (Co-op@CUHK) prides itself in being the first of its kind in Hong Kong, open to CUHK's year 2 or above students of all disciplines who exhibit good academic standing, a breadth of extra-curricular activities and a positive, can-do attitude.

Co-op@CUHK is a credit-bearing programme that combines classroom learning with productive and paid work experience in a field related to students' academic or career goals. Through around six to eight months of valuable paid work experience alongside CUHK's bespoke courses, Co-op gives students the opportunity to build up their technical soft skills, industry insights and professional networks while earning their degree.

Programme Features

Structured Learning Approach

Two stages of pre-employment initiatives will be arranged to prepare students for the school-to-work transition. Continuous assessments are to be conducted to track students' progress in particular on their personal and career development.

Immersive Learning Experience

Learning by doing - participating students will have the chance to embrace essential skill sets through experiential learning initiatives on top of theories.

Networking Opportunities

Extensive placement exposure allows students to expand their professional network.

Distinction/ Pass / Fail Grade System

With the distinction/ pass/ fail grade system, participating students can focus on developing holistic skills and new perspectives.

Co-op placement which lasts for six to eight months will start after students complete the two preparatory courses. Unlike internship which requires students to apply for suspension of study, participants’ student status will remain active during the Co-op placement. Other than the Co-op placement and assessment course, participating students will not be allowed to enrol in other courses but they can still enjoy the welfare and benefits as a CUHK student.
